Why use 2D Furniture in Revit?
That’s a legit question. We are big fans of 3D modeling, yet 2D drawings in Revit have their advantages. Here are some ideas:
- Reduce file size when the 3D representation is unnecessary, especially in large-scale projects.
- Use it as a placeholder in early design stages and concept models.
- Use it to create multiple design variations (Design Options) with minimal effort.
Technical Specifications:
- Each figure includes a masking region.
- Line weights will be updated according to your Line Weights options (by category).
- It’s important to mention that these Revit 2D Parametric Furniture Families have no 3D representation, only 2D Symbolic lines and a Masking Region as a silhouette.
- Revit 2D Parametric Furniture have a white background.
- To place a Family, you must be in a floor plan view.
- Furniture Families (except small objects) are parametric (adjustable) and have width, length, and other relevant dimensions.
Pro Tip
Use the default Revit parameter Elevation from level to place a 2D furniture Family on top of another, such as a Sofa on top of a Rug.
