Amazing craftsmanship with the etching on this stunning Iris vase made by glass artist Dorothy Thorpe, likely between the late 1930s or early 1940s. Dorothy Thorpe was a pioneer in the US, widely known for her sandblasted etch art glass creations. Her studio was based out of Los Angeles and she was active between the 1930s through the 1950s. The clarity of the glass, and the execution of her sandblasted etching is impeccable!
The vase was estate-owned and is in excellent condition. There is a bubble in the glass that appears to have erupted near the base of the vase. It’s pretty subtle, but bears mentioning. Look closely at the pictures for condition reference.
It measures 6” in height and just under 3 1/8” in diameter
